Shihan Chris has been involved in the martial arts for over 30 years. He has extensive experience in the arts and teaching all age groups. Shihans father, Hanshi Jose Guzman, founder and grandmaster of the style had emersed Shihan Chris into everything karate from a young age.
You can still find Shihan and his father, Hanshi, instructing classes at the dojo on a weekly basis. Their combined nearly 100 years of training makes for quite the experience for any student.
Shihan Chris supervises all daily operations of the dojo as well as all instructors and assistant instructors.
Shihan and staff also teach at various local nursery schools, daycare facilities, summer camps and recreation departments.
During the day you can find Shihan roasting some delicious coffee at his company, Double Barrel Roasters in Yonkers, NY.

We believe in starting a student young with working on their listening, gross motor skills and understanding their bodies. Our very popular Little Ninjas program is designed for ages 3-4 and they will learn and be introduced to all the wonderful things karate has to offer!

Ryu Renshi-Dan, meaning "The Way of the Honorable People" was founded in 1977 by Hanshi Jose Guzman, 9th degree Black Belt.
Ryu Renshi-Dan is an eclectic blend of 3 traditional Japanese arts: Shotokan, Goju and Isshinryu.

Hanshi Guzman was the Chief Instructor from 1977 - 2009. During his tenure he produced many National champions in both forms and fighting. Hanshi and his students spent many weekends traveling the Country and putting RRD on the map as a fierce contender.
In 2009, Hanshi passed over the reigns of the Dojo to his son, Chris. Shihan Chris has been involved in the martial arts his whole life.
Shihan really took the dojo to the next level and expanded programming to run 6 days a week. Shihan Chris has now developed some amazing Black Belts of his own that you can find helping out with classes and teaching weekly.

Once a month we offer amazing Saturday night events for our students and friends! Sorry, but parents can not stay! You will have to go out and enjoy dinner alone!
